Exhibition Categories

There are six categories in this exhibition.

a. Assam (Abbreviation A)

b. Open (Abbreviation O)

c. Street (Abbreviation S)

d. Nature (Abbreviation N)

e. Landscape (Abbreviation L)

f. Photo Story (Abbreviation PS)

 

Category description

Assam: Images in this category should be representative of the state of Assam. It could be people, culture, festivals, important places, wildlife etc. 

Open: In this category you may submit your best shot from any genre. It could be Portrait, Abstract, Fine Art, Photo based digital art (not AI generated), Architecture, Travel, Sports, Music, Weddings, Photojournalism, etc.

Street: Unstaged scenes from the street (daily life, expressions or emotions, juxtaposition, interesting stories) will be accepted in this category. Staged scenes (including portraits) can be submitted in the open category.

Nature: Close-ups or wide scenes showing animals, birds, amphibians, insects and also deep sky objects will be accepted in this category. Please note that deep sky objects with even a slightest hint of landscape in it will be considered as astro-landscape.

Landscape: photos that capture elements of nature and the natural features of land, sky and water. Astro-landscapes are acceptable in this category. Photographs of artificial scenery, such as farm fields, orchards and gardens, can be entered here as well. Other manmade landscapes could be both rural and urban areas. 

Photo Story: A collection of 4-9 images that relate to one another in a way that is entirely up to the photographer. It could be a photojournalistic story or it could be a set of abstract images that comes together to tell a story. It might shed light on a concept or it may be a long term project that shows a particular landscape across different seasons. It could also focus on human emotions or the state of mind. So, put on your thinking cap and send us your stories. 

 

Submission Guidelines

  • The submission is open to people of all age groups from any country. Students, photography enthusiasts and professional photographers can apply.

  • Submissions should be made through the Google form only. Direct mails won't be entertained.

  • The submissions may be in monochrome or colour.

  • Images captured using a digital camera or drones will be accepted. Mobile phone photos will be allowed in only the photo story category.

  • You may enter your work in as many categories as you wish.

  • A minimum of 1 image and a maximum of 10 images can be submitted for this exhibition. There is no limit to the no of images one can submit to each category.

  • Each image should be submitted separately and the category should be mentioned from the drop down menu accompanying every image.

  • For the photo story a minimum of 4 images and a maximum of 9 images will be accepted. The theme of the story may or may not match the main themes of the exhibition. 

  • Each participant is eligible to submit only one photo story, apart from the general submissions.

  • Photo story should be accompanied by a short story explaining the central theme or the idea behind the series of images. 

 

Image Preparation (read carefully)

  • Submitted images should have no watermarks, logos or borders.

  • Digital images submitted should be saved as .jpg, compression HIGH, in sRGB format.

  • Individual files shouldn't exceed the size of 10mb.

  • The image should not be lesser than 3600 pixels on the shorter side or higher than 5400px on the longer side at 300 ppi.

  • Images may be presented in the following ratios - 1x1 (3600 x 3600 px) 2x3 (3600 x 5400 px) 4x5 (3600 x 4500) and 16x9 (5400 x 3037).

  • The image may have a shorter side of 3037 pixels only when image the ratio is 16x9.

  • Please name your image file in this order "Category Abbreviation_Your Name_ Title of Image". For example your name is Chandra Payeng and you are submitting the image titled Super Moon in Nature category, the image name will be - "N_Chandra Payeng_Super Moon.jpg"

  • Category abbreviation is mentioned in the beginning of the guidelines segment.

  • Wrongly named images will not be accepted.

 

Entry Fees

  • There are no entry fees for submission of images.

  • Images accepted for the exhibition will cost Rs. 700/- per frame.

  • The cost of the photostory exhibit will be mentioned to the individual photographers as each display size will vary as per the no of images in the story.

  • Once accepted, the photographers will be informed via mail and the exhibits will be displayed only after the payment of the fee.

  • Photographers Agreement.

  • By submitting the photographs, photographers agree that the photograph may be displayed on any part of the Assam Photographic Arts website and may be used for the promotion of APA or any of its events without any payment to the photographer. The copyright of the photo will remain with the photographer.

  • The photographers will collect their frames from the exhibition hall on the final day of the exhibition.

  • The decision of the selection panel will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

 

Photographers Agreement

By submitting the photographs, photographers agree that the photograph may be displayed on any part of the Assam Photographic Arts website and may be used for the promotion of APA or any of its events without any payment to the photographer. The copyright of the photo will remain with the photographer.

The photographers will collect their frames from the exhibition hall on the final day of the exhibition.

The decision of the selection panel will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
